When Hooves Hit History: Delhi Horse Show 2025

India’s premier equestrian event, the Delhi Horse Show, returned in full glory last week at the Army Polo & Riding Centre and Jaipur Polo Ground in the heart of New Delhi.

A spectacular celebration of skill, discipline, and sportsmanship, the 39th edition of the Delhi Horse Show drew a large, enthusiastic crowd. Sponsored by the Anand Group, the event featured 450 riders and over 550 horses—setting the stage for a groundbreaking performance on the night of April 13.

The final rounds unfolded over the weekend at the scenic Jaipur Polo Ground, drawing over 500 esteemed guests. Anjali Singh, Executive Chairperson of Anand, and Jaisal Singh, Vice Chairman, were the hosts of the evening. Among the dignitaries present were Union Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh (IAS), Lt Gen VMB Krishnan (VSM, Additional Quarter Master General), Maj Gen Vikram Sharma (VSM, Additional Quarter Master General), Maj Gen Devender Kumar (VSM, Offg DG RVS), and Shri Kunal (IAS) from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

Adding to the celebration, promising students were invited to experience the festivities—an initiative made possible by the SNS Foundation and Anand’s corporate teams.

Record-Breaking Performance

The highlight of the evening came during the Apeejay Stya Group Open Show-Jumping Six-Bar event on April 13. With tension thick in the air, riders Sehaj Singh Virk on Asca and Amar Sarin on Bajrang cleared a stunning 190m mark, setting a new national record. The achievement was met with thunderous applause and pride across the Indian equestrian community.

Sehaj, overwhelmed by the moment, said, “There was a bit of pressure riding Asca, especially since he had already won the last two DHS Six-Bar events with his regular rider—my student Sahithi, who couldn’t make it this year. She’d set the bar high.”

The Delhi Horse Show left attendees with several unforgettable moments, none more impactful than the record-breaking feat by Sehaj Singh Virk and Amar Sarin. The event served as a powerful source of inspiration for young riders. Reflecting on the experience, Sehaj shared, “It was heartening to see so many young kids come and take pictures with the fence afterward. We heard a lot of ‘we will break this record soon,’ which was really nice to hear. I hope this sets the stage for Indian equestrian sport to move in the right direction.”

With each edition, the Delhi Horse Show continues its journey—uncovering fresh talent, fostering ambition, and creating grand celebrations year after year.
